This position is responsible to maintain efficient inventory levels of finished goods (watering manufactured and assembled) utilizing the Sales and Operating Process to maximize customer fill rates and expectations. This role will also direct and administer the management of raw materials and the supply chain related to planning, ordering and maintaining appropriate levels of raw materials to support its conversion into Finished Goods. Responsible for providing guidance and vision for strategic production planning and growth at the site. This position will have three direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning & Tactical work: subject matter expert and power user of the ERP system and Business Reports Modules to translate long term demand forecasts, demand planning, POS data, sales information into production forecasts, MPS, production work orders; leads the team through tracking completion of WOs and bridging gaps between expectations and output; monitors and authorizes the release of WOs, POs, shipping details, and provides guidance to manage supply planning through the effects of weather, seasonality, customer demands, downstream production issues, supplier concerns
  • Raw Materials & Risk Management: material ordering and inventory control of raw material and sourced assembly items; ensures the correct ordering of RM (in time) with internal support, maintains appropriate inventory levels responsible for RMI$, WIP$; ensures low E&O and helps coordinate Cycle Counts, etc; liaises with the NPI team, execution team to ensure RM flow and FG planning for new introductions, running changes, switch overs; maintains close contact with suppliers, freight operations, logistics, distribution center, etc; strategically works on Plans for Every Part (PFEP), Plans for every supplier (PFES) focusing on risk management
  • SIOP & Strategy: uses the S&OP process to provide supply and capacity inputs, communicate and bridge gaps in supply vs sales forecasts; liaises and coordinates an effective planning for New Product Integration into the manufacturing and supply process; works with the sourcing teams to set up the process of planning, ordering and managing inventory for all RM to support the conversion into finished goods; provided resource and capacity planning using tools like RCCP
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: gather historical SKU specific data and analyze for planning; track and report out to different levels of the supply chain (inside the plant, at Corporate levels, suppliers, etc); responsible for plant metrics such as On Time delivery, shortages, attainments, RMI$, E&O; reporting up and out as per standard work; high awareness to shuttle between strategic/long term and tactical/short term strategies, processes, goals to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Leadership Impact: lead, manage and coach direct reports and one level down Union employees; key member of the plant staff providing insight into plant strategy and growth


  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply chain Management, Logistics, Manufacturing, or a related discipline; APICS certification, GBSS or Operations Research/management courses, MS or MBA is desirable
  • 7-10 years related experience in production planning, inventory control, forecasting; Minimum 3 years of management experience in supply chain planning/demand analysis/warehouse; familiarity with seasonal production demand planning, logistics, freight is desirable
  • Strong ERP (JDE (preferred)/SAP), analytical skills using database management/spreadsheets; experience in leadership, coaching/mentoring, and strategic thinking/planning.
  • Experience in managing and improved existing systems, processes, and products
