The primary functions of the Manufacturing Engineering position:

  1. Member of new product development team member providing manufacturing knowledge and advice to design engineers, marketing product managers, quality engineers and off-site engineers in other countries for products being designed in our Middleton, WI headquarters.
  2. Member of operations quality & engineering team working on continuous improvement of existing products with overseas engineering team and overseas suppliers.
  3. Member of operations sourcing & engineering team to improve costs of existing products through value engineering, supplier changes and on-site manufacturing efficiency improvement projects at overseas suppliers (e.g. Kaizen events).
  4. Member of Research and Technology & engineering team to commercialize new technologies into our product lines

 

 Experience in the following processes/activities will be required:

  • Metal stamping & forging
  • Zinc and Aluminium Die casting and Investment Casting
  • Heat Treat
  • Grinding
  • Value engineering
  • Cost improvement through increased efficiencies (e.g. JIT, Lean, Kaizen, 6-Sigma)
  • Process mapping
  • Testing methods
  • Process capability analysis
  • Troubleshooting
  • Design evaluation and critiquing
  • Design for assembly and manufacturability
  • Experience working with Asian supplier
  • Multi component assembly - desirable but not required
  • Painting/Powder-coating - desirable but not required 

Qualifications:

  • BSME or equivalent engineering degree
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in engineering, lean principles, quality management and assurance preferably in consumer products or similar project-based industry; 5-8 years experience is desirable
  • Hands on experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with global manufacturing desirable but not required
  • Strong eye for detail-orientation & accuracy, ability to understand technical products and concepts quickly
  • Problem solving abilities, Design of Experiments understanding, Process capability analysis
  • Ability to use MS products, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Able to travel globally up to 20%
