The Associate Quality Assurance Engineer will ensure that Fiskars products are designed, manufactured, assembled, shipped, and tested in accordance with global product regulations, industry standards, and customer specific requirements. Collect, re-configure, and summarize various quality input data from retail customer return databases, an internal warranty database, on-line consumer reviews, and publish regular reports to internal groups for quality improvement actions. Procure and summarize sustainability data from internal Fiskars business units. Engage as a member of the New Product Development team on specific product categories to launch new designs to the marketplace that are safe, durable, high quality, on time, and at cost (piece price and tooling budget).

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collect and summarize product quality data (From customer return databases = "Destroyed in Field" (DIF); Internal warranty database (Salesforce); Consumer on-line reviews)
    • Monthly reports issued for all product categories. Pareto summaries issued to Product Quality Improvement (PQI) teams. Lead quarterly meetings with Sales and Marketing to show quality cost improvements YOY.
  • Support 1-2 NPD product categories through launch
    • Participate / lead DFMEA activities. Review internal lab test results (ISIR's). Conduct / lead field testing as needed. Collaborate with ME and Sourcing Engineers for tooling and process improvements. All NPD launches on time, at cost, with no rework or escape issues to the field.
  • Support a product category Product Quality Improvement (PQI) team
    • Work with Engineering groups to develop, test, and execute projects to complete 40+ product improvements per year
  • Support Sourcing CIP (Cost Improvement Projects) and existing product vendor moves
    • Review internal lab test results (ISIR's). Conduct / lead field testing as needed. Collaborate with ME and Sourcing Engineers for tooling and process improvements. Realize yearly Sourcing $ goal for price improvements
  • Collect internal sustainability information
    • Issue monthly summaries to global sustainability team

Qualifications:

  • Technical school or college degree; BS Degree - Engineering is preferred
  • 1-3 years experience; Prior experience with industrial and/or consumer goods is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic quality tools (problem solving, statistical variation); Experience with FMEA, PPAP, Gage R& R, Capability studies is preferred
  • MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint; Minitab, Solidworks, MRP systems is preferred
